Hayley Grimes

Hayley Grimes is an American dance artist and choreographer based in Texas. She is a current member of Zion Dance Project, performing contemporary and contemporary ballet repertory in conferences and guest appearances across Texas while collaborating closely with professional artists. Through this work, Grimes explores movement through fascia, prioritizing sensation, awareness, and embodied presence over limitation and exertion.Grimes’s performance experience includes university, festival, and guest artist work throughout Texas, with appearances in multiple concert productions and works choreographed by artists such as Travis Lake, Dionne Noble, Tiffanee Arnold, and Meghan Cardwell-Wilson. She has performed at the American College Dance Association and in productions incorporating live music, engaging with a wide range of collaborative and process-driven environments.Grimes is interested in bridging personal and universal narratives to create immersive, introspective experiences and continues to develop her artistic voice through both performance and creative research. Her most recent work, Familiar Sunsets, is a reflection of choreographic practices and research that centers on the emotional resonance of history, drawing connections between the past and present to examine cyclical societal patterns and collective memory. She also explored themes of generational memory, hope, and self-destruction through layered movement, lighting, and sound. Grimes holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Sam Houston State University and an Associate degree from Collin College. With a foundation rooted in rigorous training and collaborative performance, she is focused on continuing to expand her artistic practice through professional performance, research-driven choreography, and sustained creative collaboration.
